Letters from Iwo Jima

Hello everyone, boy has it been an insane month. Finishing off my fall semester, crazyness malls, crowded streets. It's just been a busy month i guess you can say. It's only after christmas that it has been ok to just hang around not having to worry about doing errands. actually only thing to worry about is finding a party to go to for new years eve hahaha. But its ok. New Years isnt a big thing for me i havent celebrated it like the big kids. So i'm not expecting much...

So my bro's been wanting to watch this film for awhile. I guess he did some research which lead him to some info to find where this film was playing. The ARCLIGHT, in Hollywood, where it plays movies in a Cinerama Dome, at 11:05 was where we were going. I haven't seen a war movie in quite sometime, i think the last one i've watched in the theater was probably.... saving private ryan? i'm actually not sure haha i guess thats how long its been.

Anyways, Letters from Iwo Jima is bascially about the war between the U.S. vs Japan in World War 2. This film is the opposite side of the film Flags of Our Fathers. It's bascially the Japanese side of the story. I have yet to see the movie Flags of Our Fathers so i can't really compare the two films. So you can make that decision to pick which one you want to watch first. Both are directed by Clint Eastwood too. So they both can be equally as good.

The movie is told in the perspective of a japanese soldier who fought and lived through it. I thought this movie was really good. This movie is actually in japanese, and runs for about two hours and thirty minutes. Thiers soo much going on, that i didn't think it felt that long. Thier were stories told, as well as side stories of some individual soldiers, and of course war scenes.
Thier were some familiar faces that were in this film, which included Ken Wanatabe who was in the Last Samurai, and Shido Nakamura who was in Fearless.

I thought the movie was pretty intense, like all war movies, you can see how crazy wars were/are from watching so many die and suffer. Watching your friends, officers, and practically everyone around you die. The feeling of knowing you can die at any moment, or knowing that you WILL die with no hope left. This was a good movie to watch, some of you may even cry. I know i got watery eyed at some point of the film. But none the less it was a good film to watch so GO WATCH IT!! it's only in select cities so be on the watch.

Casino Royale

So, it's been the third weekend since 007 came out and i must say , WOW still a full house. The bro and i decided to go watch it. We really pushed it, since we decided to go last minute. We had ten minutes left until the movie started and when we got in the theater, it was completely full. Since we were only a party of two, we were lucky enough to grab a seat! woot.

Let me start off by saying that this movie was truly the best Bond film i've ever seen. I'm not familiar with the old school Bonds, however i have seen all the Bond films that were played by Pierce Brosnan. This bond film was better than all the Pierce Brosnan films combined. Daniel Craig, who plays 007, in this film is indeed really good. Thiers something about him that just fits the character so well, i think it's his charm and cleverness.

Casino Royale is set in present day, however this film is basically about James Bond's first mission. This movie indicats the begining of 007, where Bond is barely begining to have a license to kill. For his first mission, his job is to stop a man from winning a casino tournament that will help fund terrorist activities. That is bascially the gist of the film. I won't give out anymore details but dude YOU MUST GO WATCH IT!! It's a curazzzy action packed film. NON-stop action throughout the movie. Of course thier is a bit of a love story and i must say that the bond girl, Eva Green, was one of the best bond girls =). The villian, or rather the person that Bond is trying to prevent wining the tournament was also good. The way he looks is just sick status, i guess its the scar on his eye. haha its hot. This movie is one of the best action flicks in a long time. I'm pretty speechless. So i suggest you go watch it cause you dont know what your missing. GO WATCH IT. Its worth every penny at the theaters!!
